new job

So I've only worked 2 days now at my new job in a salon and I've already done a color.  However, I'm not so sure I'm impressed.  They only take walk-ins...no appointments so tell me....how exactly do you build up your clientele?  I'm thinking I might buy my own appointment book and take appointments for when I know I'll be there and also for at home.  It just doesn't make any sense to me.  Why don't I quit you ask....well because I need the job.  Yes for the most part it is commission but they also have an hourly salary to fall back on.  How long I actually stay there is up in the air at this point.  Thinking I need to find another supplemental income.  ANy ideas??
